Library Cafe

Each Friday the HRHS Library Cafe is open for students to purchase a cup of hot cocoa or apple cider. Proceeds from the cafe benefit the purchase of new recreational reading material for students and other needed items for the library.

NEW!! Information Literacy course for seventh graders

This year all seventh graders at HRHS will be taking a quarter course in Information Literacy. The course is designed to teach students how to use the research resources available to them at HRHS. Students will be introduced to the HRHS Library catalog, online databases, using Powerpoint, iMovie, formatting bibliographies and other techniques/resources that will improve their ability to learn and prepare projects.

New Computers!



The Library Computer Lab has been updated with 20 new iMac computers. Teachers can contact Mrs. Belanger or Mrs. Norris in order to sign up for their classes to use the lab.

Literacy Event

Stephanie Tolan the author of Surviving the Applewhites will be making a Skype visit on March 28th from 5:30-6:30pm in the Hampshire Regional High School Auditorium

Stephanie wil speak about how she came up with the idea for her book and what Applewhites is about. She will also discuss the importance of reading as a family.
  • The audience will have the opportunity to:
  • Ask the author your questions
  • Receive a FREE copy of Surviving the Applewhites
  • Participate in a community art project to engage with the text
  • Refreshments served!

MSLA Bookmark Contest

All students are invited to enter the Massachusetts School Library Association's Annual Bookmark Contest

Design a bookmark using this year’s theme


"I'm Wild About My School Library"


Bookmark must be designed and submitted on original MSLA form (available in the HRHS Library) and artwork must be ORIGINAL – No computer images; no characters from books, TV, movies or comics. Be sure all words are spelled correctly!

Entries must be submitted to Mrs. Belanger with a parent or guardian’s signature by February 10th.

Three winners will be chosen from the school and their designs will be sent on to the statewide contest.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three designs from students at HRHS. Winners of the statewide contest receive the following prizes:

  • 500 printed bookmarks of the winning design
  • A gift certificate to a local bookstore
  • A framed award certificate
  • An invitation to the MSLA awards ceremony at the State House in March or April
  • A tour of the State House on the day of the awards ceremony
